Tiny Tuesday .....
... not for the squeamish.
For the past 6 months or so I have been having pain in my left elbow and a few months ago I saw a specialist. He told me that I have left distal triceps tendinosis and one of the treatments (to hopefully avoid surgery!) is platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP).
While we were on vacation I set up an appointment for today to have that done. It was a cool procedure .... but extremely painful.
How it works .... they first draw about 16cc's of blood (pictured above) then the blood is spun for about 7 minutes to separate the active platelets from the inactive one's. Then the doctor took the active platelets and injected them into my elbow .... that was the painful part! PRP uses concentrated platelets from the patient’s own blood to harness the body’s ability to heal through the aid of growth factors.
I hope it works!
