Happy Birthday Mom & Dad
This is Wednesday's blip...
Today is my both my mother's and father's birthday...and mine. They always said I was their birthday present :-) Dad would have been 100 today and Mom, 99. Even though they've been gone a long time, it doesn't seem right to celebrate my birthday without them. It will always be "our" birthday and I celebrate them and the wonderful years they were with me.
Rick, Susie and Tammy took us out for breakfast this morning and gave me a gift of lounging pants with RVs and camping scenes on them (so cute!) and a T-shirt from their home state of Texas. Then Piper, her dad and I spent the day driving around looking at scenery. The sun was shining and the wind was light so it was really a nice day. We did some walking and sightseeing in Rocky Mountain National Park and then drove to the top of Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the United States (12,183 feet above sea level). My main blip is a female moose and her mate is the first extra. I just couldn't get a clear shot of the male, darn it! The next extra is my little family on the porch at Grand Lake Lodge, taken by a friendly gentleman carrying two cameras of his own. The next is more beautiful fall scenery and the last is a male Osprey alone in his nest looking a little lonely. I'm sure he'll be on his way south soon.
In the evening we all gathered at Dennis and Cheryl's campfire. Tammy made popcorn and poured melted almond bark on it and shook it in a bag and then laid it out to dry, a quick and easy and very yummy snack and Cheryl had a cheesecake for my birthday. She also got me beautiful hand painted mug shaped like an owl. The first year we met them here, there were baby owls in the campground, so it was a very thoughtful gift. All around, it was a really nice day and being with my friends here made it extra special. :-))
Many thanks to all who visited my journal yesterday and sprinkled stars and hearts! Tomorrow (Thursday) is our last day here this year and we will leave on Friday morning. :'( The campground closes on Sunday and Rick and Susie will head home to Texas for the winter. We were going to stay until Sunday but snow is in the forecast for the mountains, especially over the pass we have to cross to get home so we're going to try to beat it....
