making my marks
Here in my small 5" tall x 4" wide (approx) Pocket Journal, I am making my marks! It took me a while to actually start adding to the pages after making the pocket journal in an online class. I wondered to myself, exactly what did the instructor mean by "marks"? What should I do? How should I start? And on & on & on! You can relate perhaps??
I finally just dove in. Hooray!
The pages are so small it has been easy for me to do something in 15 minutes or less. It feels good. I just read a great article from Business Insider today: 7 science-backed reasons why you should make art, even if you're bad at it! :0)
Details on this spread of pages: The paper on the left I did not paint over but added a favorite rubber stamp quote. On the right, I painted an old map page white, scraped some away and then added a stencil by Rae Missigman, using pink ink. Then I stamped Magenta stamps (a canadian company) - flowers & leaves in black and was done. I'll add my first set of art marks to the "extra" photos . . . The cover of this journal is here and a flip through of the pages before any marks were added is HERE!
Happy lenna!
Many thanks to my friend Friedaquilter who inspired me to try this mark making exercise after I was blown away by her artmarks! So gorgeously inspiring to me. xo
