South Stack Lighthouse
Our first destination today was Rhoscolyn, where we walked along the beach at high tide, then worked our way across the cliffs (first extra) until we had a lovely chat with a bloke who was involved in the coast watch. He keeps an eye out for people on the water and land to make sure they're ok, and will raise the alarm to the coastguard if circumstances require it. He had a lovely purpose built hut, and I regret not asking him for a portrait photo!
From there we drove to Trearddur Bay for lunch in what we thought was a small cafe. It turned out to be absolutely massive, and quite busy, but it did us some lovely food!
Next up was South Stack RSPB reserve. We first walked down the hill to the hut circles (second extra) and then walked along the cliff edge to Ellin's Tower. We then returned to the visitor's centre for a well-earned cuppa and cake. After lunch we walked up the hill for a good view of the lighthouse (main blip) and then did a circular walk from where we could also see the lighthouse at North Stack.
Back in the car, and we drove to Holyhead Breakwater Country Park. We had a wander along the seafront, but unfortunately couldn't see their one and three quarter mile long breakwater.
Dinner was at the Harbourfront Bistro in Holyhead from were we had a good view of the breakwater - and some lovely dinner!
