Winter Swimming in the City

There's a unique place for winter swimming in the heart of Tampere called Mältinranta.

A simple cabin with electric heaters has been used for years by members of the swimming club for changing one's clothes.

The place looks squalid, but not for long. The city is currently erecting a new changing room for the cold water enthusiasts. The half-finished building is behind the cabin and located a bit closer to the railway bridge in the background. The vigorous swimmers will give train passengers an interesting welcome view of Tampere.
