Sweet Peas in snow
Winter came early to Jasper National Park with snow and sleet all day. That was a shame as it limited what we could do and see in what is a magnificent area. Today's blip is of some forlorn sweet peas in the town allotments laden with snow. Not a sight you'd see very often in the UK
In the end we had to be content with a wet, cold walk around the town's "Discovery Trail" although we were wary of the trails in the forest above the town after our close encounter with elk yesterday and the likelihood of bears.
Towards the end of the walk we came across the Jasper and Yellowhead Museum which was a lovely little place. We'll set out and very informative about all aspects of the development of the town and the National Park.
Our last port of call was Tim Horton's for a coffee, muffin and wifi so at last I could upload all the outstanding blips. On the way there we saw the Rocky Mountaineer in the station awaiting to depart. It had 28 carriage pulled by two locos. Very long but a dwarf compared to the freight trains with are upwards of 100 wagons with 4 or more locos.
Returning to the campsite we saw many more female elk browning in the trees around the different camping sites. Susan saw a bull around too, but I was the other side of the RV dealing with wastewater discharge so didn't get to see him.
Good to be back on the site, plugged in, heating on, wine and nibbles consumed and a hearty dinner.
Spoke to Chris on FB after dinner, he's in San Francisco ready to depart back to San Diego.Won't be long now to we see them both.
