San Jim

We took the fast road to San Jim and the slow road back winding and weaving through less well known parts of Chiantishire. Despite everything it is still charming in the golden but now flatter light of a late September afternoon.

San Jim was as crowded as the guidebooks promised but off the main paths it had its quiet spots and treasures. We had a nice lunch with the sun shining down and a distant vista of the irregular hills and their seemingly timeless scene of olives, vines, cypresses, umbrella pines, scattered hidden settlements of ochre and old-bone-white stone and distant forest.
