Roots

Our family name is traced back until 1150. It all started with in a monastery in the province of Groningen. It was called Bargus or Berchuys. I read about it and was able to trace the spot where this monastery was situated with the aid of google earth.
Check this 53°20'56.42" N 6°35'33.65" E position and you can clearly see where the walls of the monastery were situated. We went there this weekend and the square shape is clearly seen in the otherwise flat landscape. This picture is made very close to this location. I love to be there and that appeared to be not without a good reason.
