Caged History
This sundial dates back to 1818 I think and sat for many years in a park in Grangemouth, Scotland. It disappeared years back, much like everything else old in Grangemouth to be replaced by the bland and uninspiring. My brother talked to a historian recently and he was amazed that Grangemouth has done so much to completely eradicate it's past. Some how the sundial has found itself in a cage at the end of the main shopping precinct, with a plaque to the now deceased councillor that put it there. It has now become a de facto memorial to just another mundane local politician.
Grangemouth, my home town, has put the last of it's history in a zoo.
I think I can feel a project coming on......watch this space......
