Leaf (Saturday 16th September 2017)

I found this leaf on the front yard pathway this morning, it having blown in from somewhere, and put it on my lightbox. I've just been playing with it on the computer and ended up with this. Ideally I would have done this on a Thursday for Abstract Thursday but that's not how I roll. Annoyingly I think I prefer the original version.

The Walker Brothers - Everything under the sun (1966)
I am belatedly discovering Scott Walker's work from before he went solo, having only known the Walker Brothers from their hit singles (which I did love). I have been playing the compilation My Ship Is Coming In which covers the period 1965-1967 and includes some things not released at the time. Everything Under The Sun opened their 1967 album Images and was a single in Japan. It was co-written by Bob Crewe and was probably first recorded by the Ronettes for Phil Spector's label in October 1966, though that wonderful recording (possibly produced by Bob Crewe although credited to Spector) was mothballed until 1981, so theirs was the first released version, covered by Walter Jackson for OKeh in 1967. Bob Crewe probably offered them the song because of their success with his song The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine.
