Blue Whale

Spent the day at the Natural History Museum in London with my oldest friend Katie (we were pals in utero!!) and her lovely family, made up of her mother Tracy, her brothers Alex and Calum, Great-Grandma and Miah, Katie's two-year-old daughter, who all live in Brisbane, Australia.

The last time I was there (with my own lovely family), my brother (now 22) took one look at this to-scale model of a blue whale and burst into hysterical tears of fright. He was roughly the same age as Miah is now, so I was amused that Miah's response to the whale was an unimpressed giggle and a heartfelt "Wow!" before she toddled off to poke at a model of a fish. She did try and melt through the floor to get away from the animatronic dinosaurs though!!

It was wonderful to see our friends again - I realised last night that it's been thirteen years since we last were together, so Katie and I were 12. If we wait another thirteen years, we will be thirty-eight!! Time to start dating a pilot: I need cheap round-the-world flights!!!
