Spot The Difference

While the others were beavering away sorting plumbing at Miss Flum's house I tackled the curtains, which we'd brought home to decide how best to clean them up.

Fearing a disaster of differential shrinkage between fabric and lining, or catastrophic failure of the stitching, after much deliberation, as a sacrificial experiment I risked washing the single, full-length one, which is a bit of a nuisance in the house. Then, as that seemed to survive, I proceeded to wash the two shorter pairs individually, the same way.

Can you see the difference between the Before (top) and (still-wet) After (bottom)? Perhaps the visual contrast is not well-defined but I wish you could appreciate the difference in smell!

I'm happy to report that, once ironed, they can be re-hung until Miss Flum feels the need to change them.
