Painting for starters

I was really interested in art at school but have not really done too much since, even though I've got all the paraphernalia to get on with it!  I bought some acrylic paints recently so thought I'd give it a go to see if it was a total disaster.  I've not used the acrylics before and quite enjoyed painting with them - I love the texture and the vibrancy of them.  This is what I've done so far, it didn't take long at all, I just used a large brush and wanted to fill the paper first with the base colours and I'll add the detail to it over the coming weekends.  I know it's extremely amateurish but I'm quite pleased with it so far since it's been so long since I did any painting.  The picture is of a photo I took on my trip to Fort William earlier in the year - on the edge of Loch Linnhe.  I'll put up a pic of the finished article whenever that may be.
