Forest Bug
Backblipping as I'm a bit behind owing to collecting my sister, who lives in France, from Stansted and taking her to Burnham-on-Crouch to stay with another sister. I snapped this red-legged or forest bug while the stuffed tomatoes that I made to take to Burnham were cooking.
Today's poem is From Invitation by Grace Nichols. http://signifyinguyana.typepad.com/signifyin_guyana/2008/08/an-invitation-from-a-fat-black-woman.html
Great poem. The second verse, which isn't in my book, is the best! I love her body confidence, the inclusion of the Mae West double entendre and the way she likens her thighs to seal pups.
