Ship Canal Crossings

There are two bridges in this view.

The high level Barton Bridge carries the M60 across the Manchester Ship Canal. It is claimed that it is becoming a smarter motorway. 

And in front of it, a bridge under construction. This will be a lifting bridge, and should have opened last year. However, testing the lifting process, the bridge deck crashed into the canal. Fortunately no one was hurt or injured. A new deck is now in place, as can be seen here. Second time lucky, hopefully.

Eddie Stobart has come a long way since the 1970's. How many lorries ? And how many girls names on the cabins ? There will be Eddie spotters and fans who collect them I'm sure.
