Bright and breezy

The wind was coming from the west - mainly! A beautiful day - himself went off to the market and then on to Skibbereen to sort out the immersion heater which is currently either producing water that is boiling or tepid. It's a horrible job and of course the 'bits' necessary are no longer made. I'm keeping a low profile.

No work today so I've been in the garden - clearing the polytunnel of beans and most of the tomatoes, then clearing around the pond. The pond is large and the edges covered in Royal Fern and meadowsweet plus brambles. It's a bit of a perilous job as it's not always clear where the land finishes and the water begins. We're not sure how deep the pond is. Himself did once try to dig out some waterlilies - a wetsuit and ladder were organised but it proved too deep, too peaty and too smelly. Today's companions were a loud pheasant, a bevy of longtailed tits and the cats who sat sunning themselves luxuriously, slightly incredulous at all the activity going on around them.
