MOT

Not for me but my car! This meant a trip into Plymouth and a wait. I could have met up with any of 3 friends but really didn't feel up to the effort of socialising, am still feeling a bit wobbly emotionally, but neither did I want to drive home and then have to go back in again. So a visit to Saltram House again! This meant driving the huge courtesy car around my least favourite roundabout but once there it was so worth it. I managed to get a place on the last conducted tour of the day of the East Wing. A lovely man led us through the rooms giving us the history of the family and the various changes to the house. It was fascinating. These women were working on restoring the Axminster carpet in the  Saloon! It is apparently the most important carpet in the National Trusts' care! Once the tour was over I walked round the grounds as it was sunny. It was so peaceful and very calming. Particularly in the Castle Folly with it's table and chairs at the end of the melancholy Walk! Some of the leaves have just started to brown and fall and cyclamens were in full bloom down the Lime Avenue. I was amazed by the size of this corm! There were deckchairs here and there taking in the views which I just loved. Why are deckchairs so appealing? Memories of summer holidays perhaps? I had a cup of Earl Grey and a slice of walnut and buttercream cake in the Chapel Tearoom and then made a dash for the toilet! Whilst in was sitting in there I checked my phone and found a voice mail. Once out in the sunshine again I discovered my car was ready!
Home via Waitrose to get something for tea and more mushrooms and tomatoes to go on toast for this weeks lunches! Oh all right a baked cheesecake too!
