The New and the Old
This week is Glasgow Open Doors .... a great opportunity to visit buildings that are not always open to the public.
L and I went to St Alysious' Church ... it is always open but we had never visited it before. It would, of course, be at the top of one of Glasgow's city centre steep hills!
The interior is quite magnificent with an abundance of marble columns and steps.
I love organ music so chose to blip the new organ which was installed in 2015, after the upper gallery at the back of the church was extended, so that the music would be heard at its best. Even an organ comes 'flat packed'!
The extra photo is the old organ which cost £5 in 1910 .... was that a bargain I wonder?
