Everyday I Write The Book

A bit long in the bluetooth

They announced the iPhone 8 today and I found it slightly depressing. Don't get me wrong, I love technology and I love Apple stuff in particular. But I've reached an age where the love of things sometimes seems to go beyond the utility of their purpose. We have become more obsessed with the method and style of communication than its substance.

By contrast my day started with a trip to a local coffee shop where I spent some time with a colleague who was seeking feedback as part of their professional development. This was a really positive and honest experience, conducted through the old fashioned medium of talking face to face.

I find simple human communication more and more fascinating as I get older. I like to smile at strangers; it's amazing how the response varies. I wonder what would happen if we all put down our phones and just smiled at a stranger. We might find it liberating.

These are my Bluetooth earphones. I shall now put them on and listen to some sweet music. As technology goes I know their purpose.

But admittedly they do look good too ...
