A Yetty
I went to our village's WI meeting today. There was a poster pinned to a tree opposite our gate, saying that today's meeting was open to all, and that the speaker would be Bonny Sartin of the Yetties. (Remember that we now live close to the border of Devon/ Dorset / Somerset).
It was very amusing and interesting too, plus he chucked in a couple of songs. The Yetties performed all over the world, and eventually finished about 6 years ago, but had been going for getting on for 50 years, so it was a well-deserved rest for them.
This is the gold record that they were awarded in the '70's I think. A few years ago he accidentally left it behind his car before reversing, so it's a bit damaged, but it's still a prized possession.
There was tea and the compulsory cakes (delicious too) and the natives seem very friendly. I was even spotted walking to the village hall, and given a lift - and a lift back home again from someone else . Plus - I won a prize in the raffle of a box of wild flower seed and some gardening gloves! (Maybe they had planned that as a hint..........?????)
