Why?
Eltham High street has been declining for years. The Council have, belatedly, sprung into action. They dug-up all the pavement in the high street and replaced it with more expensive pavement. The also installed two “Elthams”. One is in stone discreetly positioned at one end of the high street by the old church. You would probably only find it if you were looking for an interesting Blipfoto or you were in the McDonalds opposite.
This is the other “Eltham”. It’s made of wood, lights-up at night, and was either very expensive or very very expensive.
But why spend all this money on these things? - I say things because they do not seem to have any purpose, they are not positioned to be signs, and they have little or not artistic merit (in my humble opinion).
End of whinge.
