Lienz, East Tyrol, Austria
After a journey we had started a few days before at Harwich Ferry Terminal, Rols and I eventually arrived in the middle of the night at our Youth Hostel. Today had been Frankfurt-Nuernberg-Munich-Salzburg-Villach and then change to a Bummelzug (slow local train) up the valley to Lienz. For some reason, we did the entire trip with suitcases and skiis - I guess ski hire back then was not quite so widespread, nor for that matter were suitcases with wheels!
Lienz is quite far south and close to the Italian Dolomites and Slovenia.
Posting this 46 years after the event I can't be 100% sure if this was the Youth Hostel but pretty sure. Modern and spartanic.
