Es Moli de Dalt

After yesterday's mixed weather,  it's been glorious sunshine and over 30 degrees today, and we've had a great day getting out and about in the car.

The first port of call was the stables of Son Martorellet, which is the home of the Menorcan Stallions that perform in a show called Somni.  I went to see the show with mum when we were here a couple of years ago, but today was just a visit to see the horses.  We were lucky to see one of them practicing in the ring, and even saw him rearing up on his hind legs, but unfortunately it was so dark that my photo is blurred.  I've added a couple of shots to my extras though.

From there we went to the village of Es Mercadal that we wanted to see yesterday.  It was much quieter today so parking wasn't a problem, and it was worth the visit, it's very quaint.

We then drove up to the top of Monte Toro which is the highest point in Menorca at a height of 342m.  There's an old monastery on the top of the hill which is now a sanctuary for the nuns, and from here you get the best view of the whole of Menorca.

The next port of call was Son Bou beach, which is 3kms of the finest sand.  It was quite windy but still very warm, but the sea was a bit rough to swim in.  We had a paddle though and strolled along the beach until we happened upon the naturist area - we didn't join them lol!

Our final stop was Sant Lluis, which is the closest town to Binibeca where we're staying.  I'd seen a windmill that I wanted to go and find, and it appears there's actually two.  The one in my blip is Es Moli de Dalt which was built in 1762 and is now a museum.  The town itself is lovely, and we had an unexpected purchase - I went in a shop looking at the Spanish hand held fans (I didn't buy one), and Alan spotted a lovely wooden box for three watches.  He said ages ago he'd like one, and it was reduced by 50% so I encouraged him to get it.

Back at the hotel now, and it's time to get ready for dinner - well done if you've got to the end of this essay!
