End of the road

I've been following the old Route 66 and this is where it ends up - on a pier in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

It originally ended a few hundred yards away among the stylish shops of this resort, but on its 83rd anniversary it was decided to give the route a high-profile finish befitting its epic status.
