Pink Orchid

(the one I bought from IKEA) :)

Please don't read the below if you don't want to.  Its just my diary....

I've had a bit of an emotional day today as yesterday when I spoke with my Mum, I discovered that she has had to have all her remaining teeth (5) out this week because she has to be 'dentally' fit before starting chemotherapy for the bone marrow cancer (myeloma) which they discovered when she was in hospital. Being weak, it is taking a lot of effort to cope with this additional issue.

I also heard today that she is now 'not to be resuscitated' should anything untoward happen.  That is one of the hardest things to cope with, though I appreciate the reason for it.   It is much, much harder for my StepDad as he doesn't know what he will do without my Mum...

Mum is unable to drive especially at the moment, and they are not sure she will be able to again, which puts pressure on my StepDad when she starts the chemotherapy, driving to and from the hospital 20 miles away at least once a week (he is 85 years old).

I have a friend who drives people to and from hospital for the cancer treatment in this area, and I've suggested to my Mum and StepDad that they should look into this service in their area.

They are still refusing to let either myself or my Brother and his family visit :(   My Stepdad doesn't want me there  (even if I went to help), as they are having enough coping with day to day things (they have said they won't answer the door if we did go)...

This morning I went to church.  It was a communion service, the sermon being on Psalm 19 and about Natural Worship.   Our Minister, Richard Littledale has set up an 'Interactive Map.'  Where in the world is your 'AWE' place; click on this link  and mark it up!

One of the hymns we sung was 'How Great Thou Art'.  Its a favourite hymn of mine, but it sent me into tears for the first time for a long time...

When I came home, I've kept myself busy all afternoon turning out cupboards in the bedroom and I've collected a full black bag of clothes for charity, also thrown out stuff that has been waiting to be dealt with from the bathroom tidy up a couple of weeks ago.  That's made me feel a bit better thankfully :)

Praying for all those affected by the hurricane and earthquakes.  They have life so much tougher than us right now...

Back to the grindstone tomorrow!
