Cousins and West Country cider
In the last few months I've visited the south west more than in the last fifteen years, and it's been nice to do so for reasons that don't revolve only around family funerals. When we last saw each other (funeral) the cousins agreed to have a get together and we fixed this weekend.
Train services in the UK can be woeful value for money. No food available in the buffet car, all seat reservations cancelled as they hadn't put out the cards, leading to passengers going ape after paying hundreds of quid. I am far from someone who desires comfort and luxury but when incompetence and cost saving force people to stand for hours from London to Exeter after paying £100, it's time to voice frustration. For those who believe nationalisation of trains is the antichrist, how could it get any poorer value for money really?
In Torquay the weather changed every five minutes, but gave us some nice late afternoon skies. Then we bombed across to Liskeard in Cornwall for pub grub with Auntie, drinking cider, and outlasting all other Friday night revellers.
