On the way Home

David had a job to do in Elgin so we decided to take him and go exploring while he was there.
We went to Sainsbury's on the way to get food for a picnic. I was very pleased as I managed to get a great handbag, which my camera will fit in, down from £18 to £5. I also bought some cosy PJ's with hares and red squirrels on them :)
We dropped David in Urquhart about 5 miles east of Elgin. It took over 2 hours to get there but that does include the Sainbury's visit. Roadworks in Forres and slow moving vehicles slowed the journey down.
We then went to find somewhere to eat our picnic.The sun was still shining at this point and we parked near a Go Karting place and watched all the activities from laser tag to mini go karts going on.
We then drove through narrow lanes to Kingston on Spey and as the name suggests it is positioned at the western side of the River Spey. The sea can be seen just over the pebble bank and once the rain had stopped, tea and very nice fruit tart consumed we went for a wander. I did end up with soggy trouser bottoms but we managed at least half an hour exploring without getting wet.There were lots of interesting houses to look at, no one around so it did feel deserted. In August 1829 some of the homes had been lost in the great flood, the Muckle Spate.
It was then nearly time to pick up David. We had a drive around and I enjoyed looking at all the pigs and piglets. Pigs and pig stys, some like Anderson shelters and others like little wooden sheds. We saw Farmers getting the tatties in. We came across a lovely vegetable stand where we bought some cut flowers, new tatties,shiny red apples and tomatoes.
On the way back the sun was breaking through the clouds making beams shining down behind the Kessock bridge. We drove down to Allanfearn to take some photos.
