Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2017 Thursday -- Following the Signs

After I finished a full morning of teaching, I headed for home to jump in the car with Mr. Fun and the 3 pups. Then we pointed our vehicle toward California's Central Coast and the adventure began.

We'd had 16 sleeps in Corona, since we left Cayucos on Tuesday, August 22. Now two weeks of the semester are completed and we've experienced blistering temperatures with our air conditioning running 24/7 for days and days; the weather has been grueling.

So after 4 hours and 7 minutes of driving time with light traffic through Los Angeles and one quick stop for a potty break and to buy a lemonade at the In & Out Burger in north Santa Barbara, and we arrived at our little lavender shack!

We quickly unloaded the car. Took the pups to the side yard to stretch and pee, then we headed for the sand in south Cayucos.

We walked onto the sand at 5:59 p.m. The shoreline had few people and it just felt great to walk and walk. The breeze was light and the air was autumn warm. Sand dollars were decorating our path and we stopped numerous times to pick up some. I filled the pocket of my hooded sweatshirt with them. Several times after Chloe and I got ahead of Mr. Fun and Mitzi & Max, he'd drop their leashes and let them chase me. It's great exercise for them and wears them out after a day of little movement while riding in the car.

So that's our story for the first Thursday in September.

Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
