Another Secret River
Our visitor Dave R and I walked out from the house along the track through the forest. We passed over this stream, where it emerges from deep undergrowth, passes under the track in a very large concrete pipe, and disappears again into more deep undergrowth. It's easily accessible 1,5 km upstream, and similarly 500 metres downstream but what happens in the intervening 2 km is a mystery.
If I ever fancy a mini-adventure I can accept the near certainty of wet feet and explore this little piece of secret river. What is there, just out of sight looking downstream into this Blip?
When we got back to the house other visitors were arriving and so there is an extra picture of dessert, taken later in the evening.
There's plenty of choice with fresh fruit from the garden and the local shop, tasty cheeses, home-made swirly chocolate, and Livia's delightful muffins.
The visit of Dave R initiated a sort of reunion of our Technical English teaching team from the turn of the century and gave us an excellent excuse for a lovely time and delicious food.
