Bologna

Travelled by train from Viareggio to Prato to Bologna today. The landscape was full of small villages and clusters of houses all with their kitchen gardens neatly tended. I am staying in the University area in an apartment which is very handy to the mid-town. There was a large demonstration by Occupy-Bologna young people who had been evicted from their HQ. There was a heavy police presence, drum banging and general partying. The Bologna marathon is being run tomorrow and all the athletes are in town. So there is a great mix of people around plus crowds of tourists.

It's a beautiful city Bologna.

I'm off out now to the pasta place on the corner for yet another plate of spaghetti. I'll have to play a lot pf tennis when I get home.
