Mote Park in the late afternoon sunshine

A miserable old day today, dark, dreary and wet. I got wetter by going for a swim in the morning after Colin and Cathie left for Salisbury. I wanted to go to the allotment for a final check this afternoon but the weather was too inclement.

Instead we dealt with a final batch of apples, making a further 3 litres of beautiful pink apple juice and about 2lbs of stewed apples. I also cooked and froze some 3kg of tomatoes. We'll miss a great number of our tomatoes what with being away, our neighbour Geoff will reap the benefit as a reward for keeping an eye on the garden and house while we are away.

Then, just at the end of the afternoon the clouds parted, the sun came out giving us a window for a walk into the old fall back, Mote Park. We did call in at the allotment to bring home some beetroot for this evening's dinner from a seemingly inexhaustible supply. Such a contrast to the rest of the day.

All go tomorrow, as we complete packing and all the other stuff that still needs doing ready for flying to Vancouver on Sunday
