This is the factory where Silver Ghosts and Merlin engines were built. Opened by Rolls Royce in 1908 it has recently closed with RR's production shifting to Sinfin. By all accounts it wasn't a great site in the end, unfit for purpose - but there is something sad about its passing. Especially as there have been ongoing job losses at RR for some time now. The moce to Sinfin cam with job losses

I had intended to carry on from the Woolworths shot on Sunday with a picumentary of high street closures during the recession but didn't spend very long in the centre of Derby. Instead I ended up on Nightingale Road, visiting the rather fantastic Holts Cycles (*excellent* workshop help). Across the road from them is this, the old Rolls Royce factory, which originally opened in 1908 and closed earlier this year. Silver Ghosts? Not any more. There are certainly still ghosts here.

A bit dissapointed I didn't manage a blip yesterday but it was a horribly busy day at work: the finalisation of a project which was the culmination of several months planning. All sorted now. Until we have to defend it! :-)
