September - autumn already?

I have always insisted that autumn doesn't start until 21st September.  But walking around the garden this morning, it really did feel like autumn.

The trees are starting to show some lovely colours.  The meadow area is largely "gone over" now, and hopefully spreading some seeds both locally and in the wider environs.

Having wandered the grounds this morning, and admired W's progress in setting up his saw bench, I then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at work.  Now blipping at 2am, just before going off to bed.
