This afternoon Mum decided to raid her "rainy day" emergency savings and buy a small mobility scooter. We had considered hiring one, but my research showed that it's a really expensive route to go down. So we went to Ableworld in Colchester to have a look at scooters for sale. Within minutes Mum was whizzing round the shop and car park test driving an Ultralite 480, and grinning from ear to ear. I'm very happy to say we've ordered one in a dainty turquoise colour :-) It will give Mum the independence to go up to the local shops under her own steam - unless you've been a similar situation to ours, you'll have no idea just how much this means to her. I think it will be money well spent.

We went to The Barn afterwards (pictured) and celebrated by sharing a slice of Victoria sponge cake and a pot of tea. A much better day!
