Polarised Sphere

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. This was created by photographing some polarised light reflected off the back of a CD, selected the interesting bit of the reflection and then applying the distort/spherize filter three times until the object turn into something like a round or in this case ovoid shape. I've tried to give it a 3D effect by setting it against a complementary background and adding a drop shadow effect. Something which could only exist in the mind of the computer.
