alice's adventures

Vans

Off the wall.

Over the edge.

And onto the tracks.

Well, one of them anyway.

Beau (Pants Boy) has been really unwell all week and asked if I could take him to the 'train park' for some fresh air. Train Park is somewhere you can stand in relative, but guided, safely on bridges and watch the trains go by, and if you wave wildly enough the drivers hoot.

He stuck his foot through the gap in the railings and his shoe fell off.

Then, breaking all the rules of setting good examples, abiding by the law and always considering one's own safety I scaled a high fence, climbed over a wall, stood on the actual track and retrieved it.

Of course I photographed the fallen shoe first.

And of course after the retrieval I told Beau all about how you never, ever go on train tracks.

And then I got reminded about that 1979 British Transport Film, Robbie and looked the film up on youtube only to find that my uncle played the policeman who had to deliver the terrible news to Robbie's mum.

Surely this should have served as a subliminal warning from my childhood days.

But no.

Anyway, i'm alive and if none of this had happened you would have had a really crap shot of a park bench with graffiti on reading 'spruce on' and some rubbish joke about how I suspected that a Douglas Fir was probably responsible for it.
