On The Waterfront

Spent a relaxing couple of hours on the waterfront at  Southampton’s Ocean Village today.
Okay, I had laptop with me and an uninterrupted wi-fi connection which meant that much of that time was spent putting the final touches to a weekly newsletter for members of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club which is based in the Village.
But in all my years spent in newsrooms of publishing concerns throughout the south and west country, never was there a view quite like this.
Maybe that’s just as well because I am sure  that my attention would have been constantly drawn to what was happening on the water, rather than the creation of sensible news reports for a wide ranging audience.  But it’s easy to be objective when the audience or readership all have an affinity with leisure sailing and other activity on the water.
