Not a day to celebrate

It poured last night and this morning. I didn't go out until the afternoon when MrB popped by with a package of goodies, including a red telephone box tin of British Breakfast Tea. At that point, it was actually not raining but MrB said the fields adjacent to our house were totally flooded. Thank you Mr & MrsB for the always wonderfully thought out goodies. Having already had my birthday shower, I will use the fine Davidoff Shower Gel the next time - Xmas Eve if all goes to plan.

Also, calls from Ireland and the UK as well as cards and of course the odd WhatsApp and Facebook message - wonderful, thank you all.

In the evening during a dry spell, Angie took Luna out for a spin with her bike while I walked Flash. The flooding had receded but more is forecast, But for us, it will not cause any damage unlike the horrific scenes in the northern Indian continent and the massive loss of life and damage even as far south as Mumbai.

The scenes from Texas are also awesome, luckily the loss of life is "relatively" low. Does surprise me that they are not better equipped to prevent the flooding given the almost annual occurrence in such a wealthy country. Angie and I experienced the tail end of such a storm in Texas in 1998 while in the Corpus Christi and fled inland to Laredo but days later had to cancel our trip to Houston because of the flooding.

Evening celebratory meal was Weißwurst, a dish friend Nigel would escape from Germany to avoid. I had watched his flight back to the UK on a tracking App and due to a delay, he landed on my birthday. 00:30 CET, 23:30 Big Ben time.
