The Motherwell Tree
I was over in Motherwell today, meeting up with a social work colleague, which led to good discussions.
Here is the Motherwell Tree blipped outside the social work office in Merry Street.
The Motherwell Tree was first displayed at the Glasgow Garden Festival (1988).
The material and colour were designed to commemorate the local steelworks.
The sculpture with the wee birds perched on the branches - George Wyllie said they were having a union meeting is now in Merry Street Pedestrian Precinct, and the tree stumps around it form a meeting/sitting place.
Its restoration was part of the refurbishment of Motherwell town centre in 2010.
Hope you have had a good Wednesday.
