A new bridge

A last minute PR job over at North Queensferry. I was tasked to photograph a 'Tea Dance' arranged by Transport Scotland at the local community centre. They weren't sure if anyone would turn up but there were fifty or sixty people there to chat, enjoy the food and drink and the music from a small ceilidh band and watch the TV pictures of the official opening on a big screen. Lots of long-time local residents, who applauded the TV pictures when the Queen cut the ribbon on the bridge. These two women asked me to take their pictures when they arrived as they had both been there to see the previous bridge open exactly fifty-three years ago. After the opening everyone rushed outside to see the Red Arrows fly past. They were supposed to be flying back again shortly after so a number of people walked down the path to a vantage point overlooking the bridge. Unfortunately the weather worsened and eventually we all decided to give up as presumably the return trip had been cancelled because of the low cloud. Still I liked this shot of the two of them standing in the rain watching all the small boats passing under the new bridge, including, I believe, some rowers from Portobello. Back in time to deliver the images online before football. A close game for much of the match - we started well but they pulled back to level before we took the lead again. A late flurry of goals probably flattered us as we won by five. S scored most of our goals - I didn't get on the scoresheet myself but did create several.
