The Queen officially opened the new Queensferry Crossing today, exactly 53 years since she opened the adjacent Forth Road Bridge.
My mother-in-law used to live near the FRB and she was given a gold charm for her bracelet to commemorate her first walk across.  It’s a walk I have done a few times but I will never be able to walk across the new bridge like the 1000s of lucky people who were able to do at the weekend before it opens as part of the M9 tomorrow evening.
