Cornwall

Whenever I mentioned to someone that we were going to Cornwall there was a dire warning. "Driving is fine till you get to Exeter, then it's a nightmare." Given we were flying into Exeter, and picking up a hire car from there (rather than our usual of driving from Edinburgh) this was something of a worry.

Maybe it's because we're used to the roads into the Isles in Scotland, but.... 80 miles to Truro knocked off on dual carriageway all the way, then the last 10 miles to Portloe on narrow, but navigable, roads. Granted the hedges are high, but frankly we had a doddle of a trip down.

We even managed to pick up some local gin and beer and pasty flavoured crisps (no, really).
