Brandy of Distinction

A lot of the Sydney of my childhood has gone, but this entry to St James Station takes me right back.  Holding my mother and sister's hand, in our hats and gloves, going to 'town'.

St James and Museum Stations are both, incredibly, untouched and this sign, which dates from 1938, is now heritage listed.

Other neon signs from my childhood, which other Sydneysiders might remember are the Sharpie Hole in One sign at Central, the Dunlop Tyre sign at the Cross and my favourite, the grape sign at Central which I think advertised McWilliam's Wine.
