St Radegund's Priory, House of ill Repute !

Once a Benedictine nunnery in Cambridge, founded around 1130. Jesus college was founded in 1496 and took over the buildings of the nunnery, including the chapel and cloisters which are still in use along with other parts of the original nunnery. It is said that the nunnery was turned into a college because it had gained a reputation for licentiousness. Churchman John Bale dubbed it a community of spiritual harlots !  King Henry VII and Pope Julius II consented to the nunnery's dissolution. Here I have shown part of the old cloister walls and in the extra is Cloister Court seen through an archway.
