Wonderful Staithes

At one time a Fishing village and Artists Colony and still beautiful today, though years ago the creek here used to be jam packed with fishing cobles and an incredible tangle of mooring ropes.
I remember the sun gleaming on the Welsh tiled roof as you walked down to the front through the houses between the smoking chimney pots, and the lines of washing strung across the narrow and steep stone steps between colourful window boxes.
I remember one November having a pint in the "Cod and Lobster" on the corner of the sea walls, and waves were actually beating on the outside of the wall I was sitting against, you left the pub on days like that on the side away from the sea and ran to higher ground between waves!
No wonder there was an Artist's colony, i should have joined them.
