The Lifeguard

As you can see by the Labor Day weekend crowds, the lifeguard had to keep her eyes open while on duty.  The green flag indicates it is safe to go into the water.  Lately, the flags have been yellow for caution quite a big since the storms created rip currents.  Traditionally, the Labor Day weekend is considered the last big beach weekend, although this area stays  busy well into the fall.  The temps today were in the high 80's and when there was a only a slight breeze it was quite hot on the beach.  On the horizon in this photo, you can see a parachute that is used for parasailing when pulled by a boat.
