Beibei and Kunkun

With honour I'd like to introduce you to our Queen's China ambassadors 贝贝 (Bèibei) and 坤坤 (Kūnkun), named by Emily.

They are newly appointed and won the Chinese names after SM voting for a week. Finally Emily won the competition.

贝 Pronounced bèi, similar sound to the B of Belfast, means cowrie (shell) which was a kind of ancient currency in China. It also means treasure or darling. 

坤 Pronounced kūn, similar sound to the Q of Queen’s, represents the earth, a female symbol in Chinese culture.

The doubling of the characters is a traditional Chinese way of expressing an affectionate pet name for someone close to you.

Today, I met the colleague from China market team to welcome Beibei and Kunkun home. She came here to receive Queen's staff training and induction as a new member.
