Beneath Biscay

Arrival

An early morning Iberia flight Asturias to Madrid, then a connection onwards to Venice, to arrive early afternoon. From Venice Marco Polo Airport we took the water bus across the lagoon to Venice itself, jumping off at the San Stai stop, where we met Nicolas, our AirBnB host.

When we got to the house we were shown around then given a map and a briefing of how to get around on the water buses. Then off to the nearby Coop to get some supplies, followed by a walk to La Piazza, Saint Mark's square, then a pizza meal at a restaurant on the way home.

The house is well located in a quiet cul-de-sac ending in a canal, so quite quiet, but very close to a small square. This square is the Campo di San Giacomo dell'Orio, with a coop supermarket, a few small shops and several restaurants.

The house itself couldn't be called luxurious, furnishing or decor wise, but it has all the necessities and is fine as a base.

M visited Venice many years ago, but for C and myself it is the first visit.
