Kulshan (Mt. Baker) and Twin Sisters Mountain
We drove north out of Bellingham to the Semiahmoo Spit, located in Blaine Washington. Blaine shares a border with Canada. We hiked around the spit and looked north toward Surrey BC, just south of Vancouver and west toward the San Juan Islands. Our easterly view was of Mt. Baker and Twin Sisters Mountain, both part of the North Cascades.
One of the Native American names for Mt. Baker was Kulshan. The Lummi Tribe called it "White Sentinel". At 10,781 ft (3,286 m), it is the third highest peak in Washington, after Mt. Rainer and Mt. Adams. As you can see it was a beautiful, clear day.
