An Eventful Morning

Sunshine, minimal wind, and temperatures higher than yesterday, took me and our daughter back to the beach this morning - where it was all happening!

We'd only popped down for under two hours, for a quick swim (well, three successive swims all told!) as our time was limited before she left this afternoon.

Soon after we arrived a motor-dinghy zoomed into the cordoned off swimming area - unheard of! Unless, of course, it's an RNLI lifeboat-dinghy - which it was!

Two people appeared to be in difficulties on or around the tethered floating diving platform - which is a fair swim from the shore. Within a minute or two of the dinghy's arrival, Devon Air Ambulance's helicopter turned up and landed in the carpark behind the beach. The lifeboat made two journeys back and forth to the beach - presumably carrying the folks they rescued - and shortly afterwards zoomed off again, at the same time as the helicopter made its departure. I'm guessing the Air Ambulance's presence was precautionary, as there was no dramatic rescue operation; simply a straightforward process of bringing the swimmers to shore: an all's-well-that-ends-well event - the best kind!

Everyone's eyes (and cameras) were watching the procedure until distracted by a seal swimming close to the shore: that's the 'blob' centre bottom of my collage! The two blobs either side of the seal are me (taken by daur) and daughter (taken by me)!

It's very quiet now she's gone. Back to normal, but feel so lucky that the atrocious weather on her arrival a couple of days ago, swung back to summer for her short stay. Hooray!
